Attorney Kirby Portley of Austin, TX; ethical troll

The state of Texas presented Kirby Jerome Portley with a law license in 2013 after he graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law.

FYI: St. Mary’s is ranked as the 178th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools, meaning its basically dedicated to accepting losers that could get into schools like the University of Texas.

The District 10 Grievance Committee found Kirby guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Dismissed client’s lawsuit without the client’s consent
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Ordered to pay $1,600.00 in restitution to his client [victim]

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Kirby by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 12-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Kirby.

As we speak (ca. May 2019), Kirby practices The Portley Law Firm and Mediation Center in Austin, Texas.
