Judge Kim Cooks of Dallas; ethical goblin

The state of Texas presented Kim Cooks with a law license in 2002 after she graduated from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

The Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Kimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Improperly campaigned on behalf of Judge Andrea Martin
  • Engaged in improper joint campaign fundraisers with Judge Andrea Martin
  • Lent prestige of her judicial office to advance private interests of Judge Andrea Martin
  • Willfully violated prohibition against lending prestige of her judicial office to advance private interests of Judge Andrea Martin
  • Willfully violated prohibition against endorsing another candidate for public office

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Kimmy by gifting her with a complimentary public warning and an order for two-hours of additional ethics education.

Rumor has it that Kimmy opted to take a course in judicial ethics at the Huey P. Long Institute of Ethics located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Kimmy continues to sit as a 225th Family District Court Judge in Dallas, Texas.
