Attorney Benjamin Mah of Saskatchewan, CAN; ethical gremlin

The Law Society of Saskatchewan presented Benjamin Mah with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from the University of British Columbia School of Law.

The Law Society of Saskatchewan Disciplinary Committee found Benny guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct unbecoming an officer of the court (Pray tell!)
  • Failed  to  comply  with  the  terms  of  an  implied  undertaking  given  to a client namely,  that  he  would  hold  a  forfeitable deposit paid into trust by his clients pending completion of the transaction
  • Made misleading communication to the Vendor’s lawyer regarding the timing of the return of the deposit to his client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Upper Law Society Committee punished Benny by gifting him a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license and assessed costs of $1,850.00 and fined $1,500.00.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Benny practices with the Mah Law Office at 1249 8th Street East in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
