Judge Shari Michels of Bronx, NY; pompous loser, repeat offender

The State of New York provided Shari Ruth Michels with a law license in 1992 after she graduated from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

It should be noted that Shari has had her significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the twenty-seven years (ca. 1992-2019). Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the great New York City area was about to offer Shari a good paying job.

The Judicial Commission found Shari guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to comply with police officers instructions during accident investigation
• Made statements to Sergeant Khanzada (officer responsible for preparing accident report) wherein she referred to her judicial role while conveying that she believed a report was unnecessary can only be understood as pressure to forego the report, using her status as a judge
• Used judicial position with Sergeant Khanzada despite being advised by at least two other officers that had already explained to her that police protocol required a report
• Invoking her judicial status to pressure the police to depart from their required procedures for her personal benefit was a particularly improper assertion of influence

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Shari by gifting her with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Shari continues to sit as New York City Civil Court, Kings County in New York, New York.

  Based on our review of the entire record, we find no reason to overturn the referee’s factual findings regarding the substance of respondent’s statements to the officers and her intent in making them, as reflected in our findings herein.
