Attorney Margaret Strouse of Burlington, VT; congenital liar, moron 
The Vermont Supreme Court presented Margaret Strouse with a law license in 2001.
In 2006, Margaret was hired to work for the firm of Kirkpatrick & Goldsborough, PLLC. While working for Kirkpatrick, Dr. Erin Cody hired the firm to represent her in a divorce from her husband Peter Reisfeld. The couple had two sons, one age four, and the other age 18 months.
Within a couple of months of Dr. Cody hiring the firm, Margaret and Mr. Reisfeld met at a gym and shortly thereafter began dating.
When the firm’s attorney Mary Kirkpatrick was made aware of this affair, she instructed Margaret that she must immediately end the affair and if she didn’t she’d be fired. Shortly thereafter, Margaret advised Ms. Kirkpatrick that she was no longer seeing Mr. Reisfeld.
Ms. Kirkpatrick subsequently discovered that Margaret had lied to her about ending the relationship. On one occasion, Margaret received an email confirmation at the Kirkpatrick law office that a gift she’d ordered from Lake Champlain Chocolates would be delivered to Mr. Reisfeld on Feb 27, 2008.
The firm also discovered that between Feb and March, 2008, Margaret and her children spent time with Mr. Reisfeld and his children at the pool of a local health club. Margaret and Reisfeld were together on many other occasions during the same time frame.
Subsequently Margaret was brought up on misconduct charges by the Vermont Bar. The Bar ultimately found her guilty of deceit in regards to the lies she told Ms. Kirkpatrick regarding her relationship with Mr. Reisfeld.
The Bar Court Panel ruled that actual harm and potential for serious harm took place as a result of Margaret’s misconduct.
As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished Margaret by gifting her with a six-month suspension of her license.
As we speak (ca. Dec 2011) Margaret practices her brand of law at 19 Church Street in Burlington.
