Attorney Roger Compton of Fayetteville, NC; ethical leprechaun

The state of North Carolina provided Roger R. Compton with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from Campbell University Law School.

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Roger guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was working for “Upright Law,” a law firm based in Chicago.

  • Failed to supervise  out-of-state nonlawyer assistants in the provision of legal services and in handling their clients’ entrusted funds
  • Failed to supervise office staff in handling of client’s trust funds
  • Rarely communicated with nonlawyers about their responsibilities in dealing with clients
  • Failed to take reasonable efforts to ensure that nonlawyer assistants were acting in accordance with the professional obligations of the profession
  • Failed to ensure that client ledgers were being kept for your clients
  • Failed to assure that clients' entrusted funds was reconciled monthly or quarterly

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Roger by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. April 2019) Roger practices with the Cannon Law Offices PLLC in Greenville, North Carolina.
