Attorney Christopher Lane of Clemmons, NC; serial offender

 

The state of North Carolina provided Christopher D. Lane with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from Wake Forest University Law School.

 

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Chris guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Chris’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Assisted unlicensed attorneys to engage in illegal practice of law in North Carolina
  • Lent his name to introductory communications clients without active participation in the negotiations and settlement
  • Letter to clients concerning important guidelines falsely stated that you were employed in Krohn & Moss's Chicago office
  • Knowingly made a false or misleading communication

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Chris by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Chris’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Aided out-of-state law firm engage in the illegal practice of law in North Carolina
  • Permitted himself to be identified as a member of Prince Law when he was an independent contractor merely sharing fees with Prince Law
  • Provided false or misleading statements about his services to the public

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Chris by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

 

Chris’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Aided out-of-state law firm engage in the illegal practice of law in North Carolina
  • Made false or misleading statements about his services to the public
  • Illegally shared fees with nonattorney and/or unlicensed out-of-state attorneys

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Chris by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Chris’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Chris guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was working for “Upright Law,” a law firm based in Chicago.

  • Failed to supervise  out-of-state nonlawyer assistants in the provision of legal services and in handling their clients’ entrusted funds
  • Failed to supervise office staff in handling of client’s trust funds
  • Rarely communicated with nonlawyers about their responsibilities in dealing with clients
  • Failed to take reasonable efforts to ensure that nonlawyer assistants were acting in accordance with the professional obligations of the profession
  • Failed to ensure that client ledgers were being kept for your clients
  • Failed to assure that clients' entrusted funds was reconciled monthly or quarterly

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Chris by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

As we speak (ca. April 2019) Chris practices at 3902 Clemmons Road in Clemmons, North Carolina.
