Attorney Steven Helm of Richmond, VA; convicted thief/fraudster

The state of Virginia presented Steven Frank Helm with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from the University of Richmond Law School.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board found Stevie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Misappropriated [stole] funds from from client trust accounts and fraudulently transferred the funds to his firm’s operating account
  • Failed to pay his client’s Medicare lien after settling his personal injury claim
  • Sent Trust Account checks across state lines to an attorney in Maryland that were returned for insufficient funds (rubber)
  • Pled guilty to one count of Mail Fraud and one count of Fraud & False Statement on a Tax Return.

Prior to the Disciplinary Board issuing a ruling in his case, Stevie took the coward’s way out and withdrew his license to practice law.

Several years later, the comedians on the Disciplinary Board voted unanimously to reinstate Stevie’s law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2019), Stevie practices at 105 East Grace Street in Richmond, Virginia.
