Attorney Matthew Bruce of West Chester, OH; ethical troll

The state of Ohio provided Matthew Gilbert Bruce with a law license in 2008 after he graduated from the University of Akron School of Law.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found Matty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Threatened to file criminal charges or professional misconduct to gain advantage in a civil proceeding
  • Communicated subject of his client representation with a person he knew to be represented by counsel
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice
  • Improperly included in client’s settlement agreement preventing said clients from filing an ethics grievance against him and to withdraw any pending grievance previously filed again him

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. May 2019), Matty practices  at 8354 Princeton-Glendale Road in West Chester, Ohio.
