Former Judge Timothy Stafford of Irvine, CA; ethical troll

The state California presented Timothy Joseph Stafford with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from Southwestern University School of Law.

The California Judicial Commission found Timmy guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as an Orange County Superior Court judge in Irvine, California.

  • Made undignified remarks during court proceeding
  • Ruling denying litigant restraining order reversed by court of appeal
  • Court of Appeal ruled that Timmy abused his discretion
  • Appellate court stated that Timmy’s comments did not accord with recognized principles of judicial decorum consistent with the presentation of a case in an atmosphere of fairness and
  • Impartiality
  • Engaged in conduct that raised the appearance of gender bias
  • Court of appeal ruled that Timmy’s trial comments and references to irrelevant evidence undermined our confidence it properly exercised its discretion in denying the litigant’s request for a restraining order
  • Failed to in duty to be dignified and courteous to those he deals with in an official capacity
  • Failed to perform judicial duties without bias or prejudice
  • Failed to be faithful to the law (scofflaw)

The Court of Appeal also alluded to Timmy’s serious misconduct in making comments in restraining order proceeding that were extremely undignified and inappropriate, one of which is as follows:

“If I got a letter from someone, or a phone call saying I’ll give you a blow job every day for the rest of your life for a car, we will be at the Mercedes dealer pretty soon”

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Timmy by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. March 2019), Timmy practices his brand of law in Irvine, California.
