Justice Maureen O’Connor of Ohio; tax scofflaw, ethical gremlin

Unfortunately, Justice Maureen O’Connor was successful in duping Ohioans to elect her to the Ohio Supreme Court in 2002. And sadly, Justice Maureen again succeeded in duping Ohioans to reelect her in 2008.

Upon assuming her throne, Justice Maureen O’Connor immediately received a fully-loaded Jeep Grand Cherokee at taxpayer expense for the alleged (aka, BS) purpose (according to Chief Justice Thomas Moyer) to provide her with reliable transportation.

A review of Justice Maureen O’Connor’s annual W-2s (ca. 2003-2006) prove that she cheerfully thumbed her nose at IRS Rules requiring that income she earned from the personal use of the state’s Grand Cherokee be reported on said W-2s.

Justice Maureen O’Connor also violated IRS Rules by failing to maintain contemporaneous logs differentiating personal verses official use of the state’s Grand Cherokee.

Further review of Justice Maureen O’Connor’s records proves that she underreported and/or failed to report any personal use of the Grand Cherokee, thereby unlawfully evading income taxes due and owing to the IRS, the State of Ohio and the City of Akron (a three-fer if ya will).

Justice Maureen O’Connor recently announced that she is going to seek election to replace Ohio’s Chief Thief, I’m sorry I mean Chief Justice Thomas Moyer in 2012. Of course it goes without saying that if Justice Maureen O’Connor is elected to replace Chief Justice Moyer, the ethical cesspool on Front Street in downtown Columbus (that’d be the Supreme Court Building) won’t change one iota. All the voters would be doing is replacing Ohio’s most celebrated tax scofflaw (ca. 1993-2008) with another scofflaw.

As to the specifics on Justice Maureen O’Connor’s tax avoidance and/or evasion practices, that matter will be addressed in a soon-to-come article. Stay tuned!
