Attorney M. Dirk Eastmond of Sandy, UT; guilty of domestic violence, repeater

The state of Utah presented M. Dirk Eastmond with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Brigham Young University School of Law.

The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme Court found Dirk guilty of the following misconduct.

• Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice
• Pled guilty to Attempted Stalking (Domestic Violence)
• Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
• Victim of misconduct was vulnerable
• Sent numerous vulgar and threatening text messages and telephone calls to his estranged wife
• Continued to send threatening messages after being told to stop by police
• Engaged in the use of illegal substances
• Arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct involving domestic violence for a physical altercation with his live-in girlfriend
• Pled no contest (guilty in effect) to domestic violence involving his girlfriend

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Dirk’s first bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary reprimand for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Utah Supreme Court punished Dirk by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Utah Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Dirk.
