Attorney Sharon Riek of Racine, WI; deceitful repeater

The state of Wisconsin provided Sharon A. Riek with a law license in 1986 after she graduated from the Marquette University School of Law.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Sharon guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while she was employed as a prosecutor.

In one matter, Sharon was involved in prosecuting a drug case involving the transportation of 3 kilograms of cocaine from Illinois to Wisconsin. Both the driver and passenger were charged with felony possession with intent to deliver cocaine.

As the time of the arrests, Sharon was aware that confidential informants were used by police to identify the suspected vehicle and support the criminal charges lodged against the two defendants.

Prior to trial, defense counsel sent a discovery request to Sharon seeking any information about the use of informants or the existence of any oral statements made by either defendant. In her response, Sharon intentionally and purposefully omitted any information regarding the use of confidential informants. Additionally, she failed to provide any information about a non-recorded oral statements made by any defendant.

Sharon’s failure to truthfully respond to defense counsel’s discovery requests was determined to violate a rules mandating that she not engage in this type of aberrant behavior, which was premised on her zeal to obtain a conviction.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Sharon’s First bite a the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. She previously received a complimentary private reprimand [secret] for various misconduct she engaged in while acting as a prosecutor.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Sharon by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2019) Sharon practices at 70 Steeplechase Drive in Racine, Wisconsin.
