Judge Erica Yew of San Jose CA; repeat cheerleader for Judicial Misfits

The state of California presented Erica Robin Yew with a law license in 1985 after she graduated from University of California Hastings Law School.

Former Gov. Gray Davis was duped into appointing Erica to a seat on the Santa Clara County Superior Court in 2001. Erica didn’t get the appointment because she was the most qualified lawyer in the greater Providence area. She got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

It should be noted that Erica is a serial cheerleader, apologist and enabler for Judicial Misfits. In fact, there are two additional awards that have been previously presented to her, both of which can be found by going to Judicial Misfits section under California.

As a member of the California Commission on Judicial Performance, Erica sat on a case involving the egregious misconduct of Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carol Elswick who practices her so-called brand of justice in Alhambra. Facts regarding Judge Elswick’s misconduct can be found by visiting the URL listed at the end of this article.

Despite Judge Elswick’s knowing violation of a defendant’s due process rights and clear appearance of bias, Erica voted to merely provide her with a complimentary private admonishment rather than voting to toss her off the bench. Tossing her off the bench would have assured that the citizens in the greater Alhambra area would no longer be subjected to the bigoted and unlawful conduct that Judge Elswick so cheerfully engaged in.

It should be noted that Erica’s fellow comrades on the Commission voted to provide Judge Elswick with a “public admonishment” while Erica cast her vote to keep the admonishment a “secret” from the public by voting to have it be a “private” admonition.

Seemingly, Erica was more concerned about protecting a judge’s ability to remain on the bench than she was in taking remedial action to protect the interests of the public that will unfortunately have to appear before Judge Elswick in the future.

As we speak (ca. January 2019), Erica continues to sit as a San Clara County Superior Court judge in San Jose, California.
