Former Judge David Labarre of Durham, NC; potty mouth drunk

The state of North Carolina presented David Q. Labarre with a law license in 1972 after he graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

The North Carolina Judicial Standards Commission on Judicial Performance found Judge Labarre guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct inappropriate to his judicial office
  • Drove his vehicle recklessly and while substantially inebriated
  • Put at rise his life and the lives of others while driving drunk
  • Engaged in belligerent, offensive, and denigrating behavior towards responding police officers and emergency personnel
  • Repeatedly used vulgar language and expletives towards police offices at the scene as they attempted to help him remain steady

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court punished Davey by gifting him with a complimentary censure. Subsequently, Davey resigned his position as a Emergency District Court Judge.

As we speak (ca. January 2019), Davey practices at 823 Millspring Drive in Durham, North Carolina.
