Former Judge Billy Hardin of Shelbyville, TN: convict, Jimmy Swaggart Wannabee

Previously, Billy Hardin sat as a Judicial Commissioner in Shelbyville. During his tenure on the bench, Billy Boy was arrested for the following criminal conduct:
  • Sexual battery
  • Official misconduct
  • Solicitation of prostitutes
The Shelbyville police recorded Billy talking about prices for either manual or oral sex with a known prostitute.

In one instance Billy Boy offered $25 for oral sex to a woman who was consulting him about warrants she had filed. $25 is $15 more than the Right Rev. Jimmy Swaggart was willing to pay to streetwalkers in Baton Rouge. I guess we could say that Billy Boy is a spendthrift, right?

One victim testified that when she and Billy went to the jail to check on a warrant, he sexually assaulted her by touching her in a sexual manner.

Police investigator Brian Crews testified that Billy wanted to meet a woman at her home. She told Billy she would on be along for one hour. After the call, police wired the woman’s house for sound while a detective hid inside the home in a closet.

Crews further testified that the recordings made inside the house showed that the topic of money came up, with Billy saying “I don’t know how much you’re expecting for this…if you’re wanting $100, 150, you’re way out of line.”

Billy said that certain sexual acts weren’t worth an amount like that and the woman said she’d never done anything like that, but she needed the money. She asked for $50, but Billy said that amount was also “way out of line.”

Eventually, Billy offered the lady $25 for oral sex. Immediately after Billy placed the $25 on a coffee table the police entered and found Billy with his pants down. Eager beaver, right?

Shortly after his arrest Billy lost his job as a judicial commissioner. Subsequently, Billy pleaded guilty to criminal counts of simple assault and patronizing prostitution within a mile and a half of a school.

Because Judicial Misfits in Tennessee are held to a lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Billy was sentenced to serve two weeks in the Moore County Jail.

Isn’t Tennessee a great country? It damn sure is if you’re a Judicial Misfit like Billy Boy.
