Attorney Steven Berg of Springfield, IL; scamming liar

The state of Illinois presented Steven Wayne Berg with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from Southern Illinois School of Law.

The Illinois Registration and Disciplinary Commission found Stevie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Obtained unearned fees by wrongfully demanding portions of the clients’ pension benefits as additional compensation
  • Neglected two clients’ personal injury matters, resulting in the claims becoming time-barred
  • Misled [lied] to one of his clients about the status of her case
  • Failed to adequately communicate his intended fee to his client
  • Acted without his client's authority in communicating with SERS (State Employee Retirement System)
  • Acted intentionally and dishonestly to divert the SERS check to his office without client's knowledge so he could pay himself alleged attorney fees
  • Failed to adequately communicate with client
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. April 2019), Stevie practices with Berg & Robeson PC in Springfield, Illinois.
