Attorney Lottie Cohen of Los Angeles; thief, check bouncer

The state of California provided Lottie Wolfe Cohen with a law license in 1980 after she graduated from California Western University School of Law.

The California State Bar Court found Lottie guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Misappropriated [stole] client funds due to gross negligence
  • Failed to maintain client funds in a trust account
  • Failed to maintain required client trust account records
  • Wrote check for $23,000 on insufficient funds account (rubber)
  • Wrote check for $3,494 on insufficient funds account (rubber)
  • Engaged in multiple acts of wrongdoing
  • Lottie’s ethics trial testimony lacked candor

As a consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California State Bar Court punished Lottie by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 1-year  suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the State Bar Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Lottie.

Because Attorney Misfits in California are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Lottie was never criminally prosecuted for writing bad checks.

As we speak (ca. January 2019), Lottie practices with Westwood Lawyers at 2288 Westwood Blvd in Los Angeles, California.
