Attorney Stanley Niew of Oak Brook, IL; ethical troll

The state of Illinois presented Scott I. Yu with a law license in 1972 after he graduated from John Marshall School of Law.

The Disciplinary Commission found Stan guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Stan’s wife was previously disbarred for stealing $2.3 million that belonged to a client she represented in a real estate matter
  • After wife’s disbarment, Stan Niew failed to ensure that his wife no longer maintained a presence in their law office and he also failed to supervise his associate
  • Failed to prevent associated from aiding wife in the illegal practice of law
  • Failed to reasonable steps to ensure that another lawyer, over which he had direct supervisory authority, conformed his conduct in accordance with the Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Stan by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. February 2019) Stan practices with the Law Offices of Stanley E. Niew, P.C. at 1000 Jorie Blvd in Oak Brook, Illinois.
