Justice Beth Walker of West Virginia; greedy ingrate

The State of West Virginia presented Beth Walker with a law license in 1990 after she graduated from The Ohio State University School of Law.

In mid-August 2018, the West Virginia House of Delegates voted to impeach Beth. She will subsequently face a trial in the West Virginia State Senate.

The House of Delegates found Beth guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Improper expenditure for upgrades to her judicial office ($131,000)
  • Improper use of state vehicles and/or office computers at home
  • Repeatedly abused her judicial authority
  • Failed to control office expenses
  • Failed to maintain policies over matters such as working lunches

All that remains now is to see what the vote count is in the State Senate to have Beth permanently removed from the Supreme Court.

And lastly, despite her egregious misconduct, Beth will likely not suffer any consequences relating to her law license. Put simply, she’ll be allowed to practice law after the Senate votes to toss her off the bench.

As we speak (ca. September 2018), Beth has been temporarily suspended from her Supreme Court seat while awaiting judgment from the State Senate.
