Former Judge Rodney P. Owens of Little Rock; dumb crook

While Rodney Owens was sitting as a Arkansas District Court Judge he was forced to resign from the bench for engaging in criminal conduct.

Rodney was found guilty of engaging in an unlawful scheme of tax avoidance. He bought a $103,000, 37-foot RV in Oklahoma, and then paid an extra $1,000 to have it fraudulently registered in Oregon, which has no sales or use tax on such vehicles.

As a consequence of his criminal conduct, Rodney was convicted of tax evasion, a Class “D” felony. Subsequently, Rodney was suspended with pay pending the outcome of the disciplinary complaint filed against him.

Rodney’s criminal conviction led to him being fined $10,000.

Rodney and his sleazy attorney took affirmative steps to assure that the disciplinary process would last until the end of 2002, thereby assuring that Rodney would have ten (10) years on the bench, thus providing him with a vested state pension.

It cannot be disputed that the apologists on the Judicial Commission were well aware that Rodney and his attorney were engaged in stalling tactics so that he could eventually qualify for a state pension.

The clowns sitting on the Judicial Commission should have been made to pay Rodney’s unearned and undeserved pension and not the hardworking and overtaxed citizens of Arkansas

This favorable outcome to Rodney the Felon only further proves that Judicial Misfits are held to a lower standard of conduct then we are.
