Attorney Charles Hammond III of Houston; ethical troll

The state of Texas presented Charles E. Hammond III with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from University of Houston School of Law.

The District 4 Grievance Committee found Charlie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Charlie!)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to keep his client reasonably informed about the status of the client’s legal matter
  • Failed to surrender papers and property to which his client was justly entitled
  • Failed to refund any advance payments of fees that had not been earned (cheater)
  • Failed to supervise nonlawyers at his firm
  • Ordered to pay $12,400.00 in restitution to one client
  • Ordered to pay $2.600 in restitution to a second client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Charlie by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license and was assessed investigative costs of $2,700.00.

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Charlie practices his brand of law with the Law Office of A. Scot Chase at 6575 West Loop Street in Bellaire, Texas.
