U.S. Judge Janet Neff: Michigan’s 2017 Double Dipper of the Year Winner

The state of Michigan presented Janet T. Neff with a law license in 1970 after she graduated from Wayne State University School of Law.

In 2007 President George W. Bush was duped into appointing Janet to a federal judgeship for the Western District Court of Michigan.  Janet didn’t get this appointment because she was the most qualified attorney in the greater Grand Rapids area. She got it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

For reasons better known to George Bush and/or his advisors, Janet was appointed to the federal bench she was sixty-two years old (DOB: 1945). After spending twenty-seven years as a state judge (1980-2007) why would anyone even consider appointing her to a lifetime job?

In addition to her annual $208,000 salary, Janet also collects an annual judicial pension from the state of Michigan of $92,000 for a total of $300,000.

As we speak (ca. July 2018), Janet continues to sit as a U.S. District Court Judge in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
