Judge Darris J. Summers of Morgantown, WV; moronic slacker

It should be noted that Darris is not a licensed attorney nor did he attend law school.

The West Virginia Judicial Investigation Commission found Darris guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Made inappropriate comments about a victim of a domestic assault and domestic battery case at the time that he pronounced the defendant not guilty.
  • Failed to comply with the law
  • Failed to conduct himself without bias or prejudice in dealing with litigants or their counsel
  • Conduct failed to promote public confidence in the judiciary
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • By words or conduct, exhibited manifest bias/prejudice, or engaged in harassment that was based upon race, sex, gender, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, marital status, socioeconomic status, or political affiliation, or permitted court staff or others under his direction to so act
  • Made public statement that reasonably was expected to affect outcome of or impair the fairness of a pending court matter
  • Made pledges, promises or commitments that were inconsistent with the impartial performance of his adjudicative duties of judicial office
  • Failed to maintain order and decorum during court proceedings
  • Failed to be patient, dignified, and courteous to litigants, jurors, witnesses, lawyers, court staff, court officials, and others with whom he dealt with in an official capacity
  • Failed to perform judicial duties competently (moron)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Investigation Committee punished Darris by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. July 2018), Darris continues to sit as a Monongalia County Magistrate in Morgantown, West Virginia.
