Judge Timothy Staffel of Santa Maria, CA; incompetent moron

The state of California presented Timothy John Staffel with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from the University of Pacific McGeorge Law School.

Former Gov. George Wilson was duped into appointing Timmy as an Santa Barbara Superior Court judge in 1998. Timmy didn’t get the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Oakland area. He got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

In one matter, Timmy was assigned to preside over a case involving a medical malpractice arbitration wherein he approved an award by the arbitrator. However, when the matter was heard by the Court of Appeal that award was reversed. In it’s reversal order, the Court of Appeal stated in part:

• The losing party in an arbitration was entitled to have the judgment vacated because the neutral arbitrator failed to disclose that counsel for one of the defendants was a member of the administering dispute resolution agency.
• The California Arbitration Act and the California Ethics Standards for Neutral Arbitrators in Contractual Arbitrations impose upon a neutral arbitrator a continuing obligation to disclose such a relationship to the parties.

Of course Timmy the Incompetent Moron doesn’t much give a damn how many times his asinine rulings are overturned by the Court of Appeal because he knows that no judge in California has ever been removed from office for being a Moron. Additionally, Timmy has absolutely no concern for how much taxpayer money is wasted as a direct result of his gross incompetence.
