Attorney Bryon Smith of Jacksonville, NC; ethical goblin

The state of North Carolina provided Bryon M. Smith with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

The Committee on Professional Conduct found Bryon guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Violated multiple trust accounting rules
  • Failed to maintain client ledges
  • Failed to perform mandatory quarterly reconciliations of his trust account
  • Failed to identify the client and source of funds on deposit slips
  • Failed to maintain persona funds on deposit for payment of bank charges
  • Failed to deposit mixed funds into his trust account

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished Bryon by gifting him with a third complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Bryon.

As we speak (ca. August 2018), Lisa practices with the Southern Law Group at 814 New Bridge Street in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
