Attorney Patricia Morris of Boardman, OH; deceitful loser

The state of Ohio presented Patricia Anne Morris with a law license in 1989 after she graduated from the University of Akron Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found Patty guilty of the following misconduct, all of which took place while she was a judicial candidate for the domestic relations division of the court of common pleas.

In one matter, involving a domestic relations hearing wherein Patty and the complainant’s spouse were opposing counsel, the complainant's spouse referred to the son of the parties as a "loser." The son was nineteen at the time of the hearing and was not present at the hearing.

Subsequently, Patty ran a television advertisement that pictured a twelve year-old boy sitting in a courtroom. The advertisement contained a reference to Patty's opponent has referring to a "child" as a "loser." The advertisement suggested that because of this remark, the respondent's opponent was not suited to become a domestic relations judge.

Ethics investigators ruled that Patty violated the Judicial Code of Ethics by portraying the opponent's remark out of context both visually and audibly and with the intent of leading the public to believe that the remark was made regarding a young boy and in the opponent's judicial capacity.

Despite her underhanded conduct in attempting to dupe the voters into electing her to a judgeship, the voters told Patty to take a hike and elected her opponent.

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Christy by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.
