Judge Mary McGowan of Little Rock, AR; slacker, repeat offender

The state of Arkansas presented Mary with a law license in 1977 after she graduated from the University of Toledo Law School.

The Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission found Mary guilty of the following misconduct.

Mary’s 1st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to report cases wherein three months or more had lapsed prior to her rendering a decision
  • Engaged in lapses of demeanor while on the bench
  • Failed to act patiently and courteous to litigants, lawyers and others who were unfortunate enough to have had to appear before her

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Mary by gifting her with a complimentary Reprimand.

Mary’s 2nd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Took over 13 months to render ruling in a case

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Mary by gifting her with a complimentary and laughable informal adjustment.

As we speak (ca. April 2018), Mary continues to sit as a Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge in Little Rock, Arkansas.
