U.S. Judge Inge Johnson: Alabama’s 2017 Double Dipping Porker of the Year Winner

The state of Alabama provided Inge Prytz Johnson with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from the University of Alabama Law School.

Former President Bill Clinton was duped into nominating Inge for a seat as a District Court judge for the Northern District of Alabama in August 1998. Inge wasn’t nominated because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Birmingham area. He got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

For the past forty (40) years, Inge has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough. Apparently, no self-respecting law firms in the greater Birmingham area were about to offer Inge a good paying job.

It should be noted that in October 2012 Inge opted to assume the position of senior status judge. This meant that she was only required to work 10 hours a week while collecting 100% of a full-time judge’s annual salary, which as of 2018 would be $205,100.

In addition to his annual $205,100 salary, Inge also collects an annual judicial pension from the state of Alabama of approximately $118,000 and a Colbert County pension of $29,000 for a total of $352,100.

And lastly, if you’re a federal or even a local government employee, wouldn’t you love it if you could take on senior status in your job after 10 years and continue to collect 100% of your pay? Sorry boys and girls!

Even though you’ll never be able to collect this unconscionable financial benefit, you can take solace in the fact that you will be required to continue to pay taxes to support it.

As we speak (ca. March 20180, Inge continues to sit as a District Court judge in Birmingham, Alabama.
