Judge Travis Richardson of Chicago; ethical troll
The state of Illinois provided Travis Richardson with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School.
In one matter, Travis found it acceptable to knowingly violate the Illinois Code of Judicial Conduct that states:
“A candidate shall not personally solicit or accept campaign contributions.”
During a February 13, 2018 Blue Island City Council meeting, the following conversations took place.
MAYOR VARGAS: “Your honor, nice to see you as a guest." "Why don't you come up since you're here.” “Introduce yourself, since I saw you in the audience." JUDGE RICHARDSON: “I am running to keep my position on the March 20 ballot.”
Travis then recited his ballot number which was 157 to the attendees and then said:
Travis then spoke about terms used to describe lottery and horse-racing bets to personally request campaign contributions vis his website by saying. (Ted Slowik, Chicago Tribune)
After being exposed his misconduct, Travis had the chutzpah to claim that he was just “joking” when he was begging for campaign contributions. Clearly, Travis missed his calling as a standup comedian.
All that’s left now is to see what if anything the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Council do about Travis’ serial violations of the Code of Judicial Conduct.
As we speak (ca. March 2018), Travis continues to sit as a Cook County Circuit Court judge in Chicago, Illinois.
