Attorney Jose Angel Velasquez of Salinas, CA; Il Duce Wannabee, repeater

 
FYI: Il Duce is none other than Benito Mussolini, the late dictator of Italy who was partnered up with Adolph Hitler during World War II.
 
Jose Velasquez was presented with a license to practice law by the California Supreme Court in 1983.
 
From 1995 to 2007, Velasquez was a Monterey Superior Court Judge. During his time on the bench, Velasquez was found guilty of the following misconduct by the Judicial Commission on two occasions.
 
1st bite at the Judicial Misconduct Tree 

  1. Unlawfully displayed a 6” x 9” crucifix on the wall in his courtroom
  2. Used his judicial position to falsely accuse fellow judges of racial bias against him
  3. Used his office to falsely accuse others who were neither parties nor witnesses before his court of an assortment of misconduct
  4. Openly displayed contempt for anyone appearing in his court that did not agree with his position on abortion and/or his religious beliefs
  5. Let it be known that he had total contempt for anyone charged with drunken driving
As a consequence of his egregious misconduct, the enablers sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Judge Velasquez by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
 
2nd bite at the Judicial Misconduct Tree  

  1. Repeatedly infringed upon the constitutional rights of defendants
  2. Numerous occasions of overstepping his judicial authority
  3. Jailed several defendants without respecting their constitution due process rights
  4. Unlawfully increased sentences
  5. Became upset when defendants asked him straightforward and respectful questions about the sentences he imposed
  6. Interfered with defendants’ exercise of the right to a jury trial
  7. Made disparaging remarks regarding attorneys
  8. Used inappropriate humor about incarceration at the expense of persons whose constitutional rights he had trampled upon
Had the enablers for Judicial Misfits did their job in 1997 and removed Valesquez from the bench, he would not have been able to victimize numerous persons over the next 10 years. These enablers owe an apology to every one of Valesquez's victims!
 
As a consequence of this egregious misconduct, the Commission finally had the courage to order that Velasquez be removed from his judicial office. In addition, his law license was suspended until August 2009.
 
As we speak (ca. Dec 2011), this certified loser is practice law in Salinas, California.
