Attorney Richard Nielsen of British Columbia, CAN; Dumbo, repeater

 

The Law Society of British Columbia presented Richard C. Nielsen with a law license in 2001 after he graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School.

 

The Disciplinary Committee of the Law Society found Dick guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Dick’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Knowingly engaged in professional misconduct
  • Intentionally altered documents without his client's consent and
  • Knowingly and intentionally submitted altered documents to the trial court as though they were genuine
  • Prior to submitting client affidavit to court, he altered an exhibited attached thereto setting out draft order being consented to by removing one page and substituting another w/o joint custody provisions contained in original exhibit

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand, a fine of $10,000 and $5,000 in costs.

 

Dick’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to disclose material facts to lender clients
  • Failed to advise client that mortgage funds exceeded first purchase price and that said excess funds were disbursed to persons unrelated to the real estate transaction
  • Knowingly engaged in professional misconduct
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license and $4,500 in costs.

 

As we speak (ca. February 2018), Dick practices at 808 Nelson Street in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
