Paul Zellerbach: Riverside, County DA; repeat offender, lifetime porker, ethical gremlin

In a monumental lapse of judgment, the California Supreme Court presented Paul Zellerbach with a license to practice law in 1978.

From 1978 through 2011, Paul has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough. After receiving his law license in 1978, he spent the next 22 years as an assistant Riverside County DA. In 1200, Paul succeeded in duping the voters in Riverside County to elect him as a Superior Court Judge where he remained until 2011 when the voters elected him as the County DA.

During his unremarkable career, Paul has been disciplined at least twice as seen below.

1st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

In 2006, the Judicial Commission found Paul guilty of misconduct for making harsh comments to a doctor who was late to court and for threatening to hold him in contempt.

For his misconduct, the apologists sitting on the Commission punished Paulie by gifting him with a complimentary advisory letter. Hear tell those are like really painful!

2nd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

In August 2006, the Judicial Commission found Paul guilty of failing to appear in court to receive a jury verdict in a case of vehicular homicide because he was attending an Angel’s baseball game in Anaheim. Paul refused to allow another judge who was available to receive the jury verdict.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers on the Judicial Commission punished Paul by gifting him with a complimentary admonishment.

3rd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

In November 2011, the Judicial Commission again found Paul the Repeater guilty of misconduct. In this instance the Commission found Paulie guilty of failing to:
  1. Remain impartial
  2. Disqualify himself when a conflict was apparent
  3. Be patient and courteous to those appearing before him
  4. Making disparaging comments about members of the DAs office
As a result of his misconduct, the enablers sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Paulie by “again” gifting him with an admonishment.

As we speak (Nov 2011), Paulie the Loser remains as the DA of Riverside County.
