Judge Gregory Edward Lenehan of Halifax, misogynist
It should be noted that Gregory has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the last twenty-eight years (1999 thru 2017). Apparently, no self-respecting law firm was about to offer Greg a good paying job.
Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Nova Scotia, Ross Landry was duped into appointing Gregory to a seat on the Nova Scotia family provincial court. Greg didn’t get the appointment because he was the most qualified lawyer in the greater Nova Scotia area. He got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.
In one matter, Nova Scotia’s chief justice Michael MacDonald ordered that an investigation be conduct regarding complaints about Judge Lenehan who acquitted a taxi-driver who was accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated female passenger who was found partially nude and unconscious in his cab.
Greg acquitted the accused taxi-driver Bassam Al Rawi of sexually assaulting his passenger. In acquitting Al Rawi, Greg said:
To further prove that he’s a dyed-in-the wool Misogynist, in 2015 Greg ordered a woman to leave his courtroom because she was breastfeeding her infant son.
As we speak (ca. November 2017) Greg continues to sit as a provincial Judge of Nova Scotia Provincial and Family Courts in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. |
