Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Bernette Johnson; apologist for Felons  
Justice Bernette Joshua Johnson was presented with a license to practice law by the Louisiana Supreme Court in 1969. For the lion’s share of her so-called legal career, Justice Johnson has had her significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough.
Unfortunately, Bernette Johnson succeeded in duping the voters to elect her to the Louisiana Supreme Court in 1994.
It is the job of the justices of the Louisiana Supreme Court to decide on appropriate punishment for Attorney and Judicial Misfits.
Several years ago ex-judge C. Hunter King was removed from the bench by the Supreme Court after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit public payroll fraud by forcing court personnel to work on his re-election campaign. King repeatedly lied under oath (perjury) about the payroll fraud matter.
Subsequently, the Louisiana Office of Disciplinary Counsel filed charges against King in regards to his law license. The Counsel found King guilty of egregious misconduct and recommended that he be permanently disbarred.
When King’s case went to the Supreme Court for final adjudication on Disciplinary Counsel’s disbarment recommendation, the majority of the Court voted to permanently disbar King.
However, Justice Bernette “The Enabler” Johnson voted that King should keep his law license despite the fact that he was a convicted criminal and acknowledged perjurer. In fact, Johnson called King’s disbarment “excessively harsh and without precedent.” In prior cases of lawyers committing felonies, they were all suspended and not disbarred, Johnson said. It must be comforting for Louisianans to know that attorneys convicted of felonies are more than welcome to practice law in The Pelican State. And it must be even more comforting for attorneys engaged in felonious conduct to have someone of Justice Johnson’s ilk sit ting on the Louisiana Supreme Court.
