Attorney Jonathan Marler of Ontario, CAN; lying loser

The Law Society of Upper Canada presented Jonathan Howard Marler with a law license in 1998 after he graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School.

A Disciplinary Hearing Panel found Jon guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in professional misconduct
  • Fully participated in a transfer of a mortgage to himself, which was a fraudulent conveyance and an unlawful preference
  • Lied to Bankruptcy Court that he had not represented a creditor
  • Falsely testified (perjury) and tendered evidence in support of this testimony, to the Bankruptcy Court that he had no relationship with a different person and his company
  • Orchestrated a bankruptcy proceeding against a third person, which had been initiated by rivals of that person for an improper purpose

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee of the Law Society punished
Jon by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

Because Attorney Misfits in Canada are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Jon was never criminally charged with perjury or obstruction of justice.

As we speak (ca. August 2017), Jon practices with the Marler Law Firm at 102 Lakeshore Road East in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
