Attorney Eric Chesterley of British Columbia; ethical gnome

The Law Society of British Columbia presented Eric K. Chesterley with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School.

The Law Society found Eric guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to contact client’s mother to obtain consent to name her as part in lawsuit
• Engaged in an egregious conflict of interest
• Failed to advise mother she could be liable for defendant’s legal costs
• Failed to advise clients that no information received from one client could be treated as confidential as between them
• Failed to secure the informed consent of the clients as to the course of action to be followed if a conflict arose between them
• Admitted to engaging in professional misconduct

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society punished Eric by gifting him with a complimentary $3,000 fine.

As we speak (ca. September 2017), Eric practices with the Eric K. Chesterley Law Corporation at 635 Fitzgerald Avenue in Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada.
