Attorney Michael Reilly of Council Bluffs, IA; thieving check-kiter

The state of Alabama presented Michael Gerard Reilly with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from Seton Hall University Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Harry guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Converted (stole) client funds
  • Engaged in a check-kiting scheme
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Caused substantial loss to a bank victimized by Mike’s check-kiting scheme
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Wrote check on insufficient funds account (rubber)
  • Stole $99,000 from one client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary 5-year suspension of his law license.

Because Attorney Misfits in Iowa are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Mike was never criminally charged with grand theft, fraud and/or writing bad checks.

As we speak (ca. December 2017), Mike practices with the Stuart Tinley Law Firm LLP at 310 West Kanesville Blvd in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
