Judge Eric O’Briant of Logan, WV; scofflaw, lifetime porker

The state of California provided Eric O’Briant with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from West Virginia University Law School.

Former Gov. Arch Moore Jr. was duped into appointing Eric to a seat on the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court of Logan County in 1987. Eric didn’t get the appointment because he was the most qualified lawyer in the greater Logan County area. He got it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

It should be noted that Eric has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past thirty years (1987 thru 2017). Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Logan County area was about to offer Mike a good paying job.

The West Virginia Judicial Commission found Eric guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matterEric found it acceptable to allow the cousin of his son-in-law to handle cases in magistrate court even though Eric absolutely knew he didn’t have a license to practice law in West Virginia or any other state.

Eric is more concerned with granting favor to family members than he is in complying with the law. Put simply, Eric is firm believe in “nepotism” since he claims to be a Family Values type of feller.

As we speak (July 2017) Eric the Scofflaw continues to sit as a judge on the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court of Logan County in Logan, West Virginia.
