Judge Jeff Ferguson of Santa Ana, CA; ethical gremlin

The state of California provided Jeffrey Malcom Ferguson with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from Western State University Law School.

It should be noted that Jeff has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past thirty-four years (1983 thru 2017). Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Orange County area was about to offer Jeff a good paying job.

The Commission on Judicial Performance found Jeff guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Jeff found it acceptable to make inappropriate comments about a judicial candidate on Facebook and by remaining Facebook “friends” with attorneys appearing before him in court. (Kelly Puente, Orange County Register)

Jeff posted a comment about a comment about fellow Judge Scott Seiner who was running for reelection on the North County Bar Association’s Facebook page in response to a comment posted by an attorney who was supporting Judge Steiner’s opponent. In his Facebook posting, Jeff said:

• “Judge Steiner has sex with defense lawyer whike [sic] shw [sic] is a DA on his cases and nobody cares.”
• “Interesting politics.”

Jeff made the statement about Judge Steiner “with knowing or reckless disregard for the truth of the statement.” Put simply, Jeff doesn’t much give a damn about the truth as long as it tends to improve the chances for one of his buddies to obtain a $190,000 a year job sitting on the Orange County bench.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Jeff by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.
