Attorney Craig Blitzer of Reidsville, NC; convicted thief, repeater

First and foremost, it should be noted that this isn’t Craig’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. An article dealing his prior misconduct can be found by viewing the URL listed at the end of this article.

The state of North Carolina presented Craig M. Blitzer with a law license in 1995.

In one matter, Craig pled guilty in Wake County Superior Court to his role in a wife-swap hiring scheme. (Anne Blythe, Charlotte Observer)

The scheme allowed Craig, Rockingham County DA at the time, and a district attorney in a neighboring district to hire each other’s wives and pay them for doing little or no work.

Worried that his government check wouldn’t be sufficient to care for his family as his income as a defense attorney did, Craig came up with a scheme with former Person and Caswell counties DA Wallace Bradsher to hire each other’s wives and pay them for doing little or no work.

Craig was aware that under state ethics rules district attorneys are prohibited form employing family members. By hiring each other’s wife in adjoining counties as “ghost employees” Craig was able to circumvent the law.

Subsequently, Craig entered into a plea arrangement wherein he agreed to provide information to the prosecutors in the prosecution of his then partner-in-crime Bradsher. As part of the plea deal, Craig paid $48,000 000 to the Administrative Office of the Courts, money that was paid to his wife to benefit his family.

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Craig by the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the North Carolina State Bar Grievance Commission.

As we speak (ca. October 2017), Craig practices at 266 Rhinewood Lane in Reidsville, North Carolina.
