Commonwealth Attorney Linda Smith of Burlington, KY; ethical gnome

The state of Kentucky presented Linda Tally Smith with a law license in 1994 after she graduated from Mercer University of Kentucky Law School.

Linda is the Commonwealth Attorney (Prosecutor) for Boone County, Kentucky.

In one matter, Linda was the prosecuting attorney in the trial of David Dooley, who was accused of killing his coworker, Michelle Mockbee. Dooley was convicted of murder in 2014. However, a judge ruled in May 2017 that Dooley is entitled to a new trial because defense lawyers were not told about notes from a detective or a video showing an unidentified man near the building the day before Mockbee was killed.

In truth, the trial court found that Linda was hiding the ball in failing to provide relevant evidence to defense counsel.

In addition, it was revealed that Linda was engaged in a sexual relationship with Mr. Bruce McVay who was one of the detectives in the Dooley case. That fact also put into question the efficacy of the first trial.

Linda doesn’t deny she was sleeping with detective Dooley. However, as is the case with most dishonest public officials, Linda had the chutzpah to claim that the investigation into her conduct is “politically motivated.”

All that remains now is to see how long it takes for Linda to cop a plea and admit to the misconduct she allegedly engaged in.

As we speak (ca. July 2017), Linda continues to be employed as a Commonwealth Attorney for Boone and Gallatin Counties.
