Attorney Karen M. Kennedy of Fredericksburg, VA; thieving slacker

The state of Virginia presented Karen M. Kennedy with a law license in 1979 after she graduated from the College of William and Mary Law School.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board found Karen guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to properly maintain client trust account records
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to refund unearned fees (thief)
  • Failed to decline/terminate representation when required to do so
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law
  • Failed to comply with recordkeeping requirements
  • Charged an unreasonable fee (cheater)

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board punished Karen by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. June 2017), Leila practices at 10112 Sharon Springs Lane in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
