The Florida State Bar found Barry guilty of the following misconduct.

Over ten years billed widowed client over $400,000 in fees

Failed to provide client with an explanation of fees she would charge for maintaining the woman's property and her legal work
-
Immediately began to perform activities that she knew for a fact were outside of the duties of acting as a guardian for the client’s funds and property
At the outset began to charge the widow $180 to $250 per hour for her time and $60 to $90 per hour for her staff’s time for work such as discussing the client’s medical condition with doctors, reviewing her mail, to $80 per hour for her staff's time for work such as discussing her client's medical condition with doctors, reviewing her mail, visiting socially and taking her to doctor's appointments
-
Charged $85 per hour for her staff to do yard work, clean the client’s house and pain the client’s porch

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits and Attorney Thieves sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Barry by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
