Attorney Matthew Luening of Milwaukee; lazy loser

The State of Wisconsin presented Matthew T. Luening with a law license in 2010 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) found Matty guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to file required form in immigration matter
• Negligence led to Immigration Court dismissing client’s request for permanent residence status
• Failure to follow proper procedures led to client being deported
• Failed to act in best interests of his client
• Failed to prepare and file applications for asylum, withholding of removal, relief under the Convention against Torture, and voluntary departure
• Court found that Matty’s client was prejudiced by ineffective assistance of counsel
• Failed to explain to client forms of relief from removal to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make an informed decision in the removal proceedings
• Failed to keep client informed of status of child custody matter
• Failed to respond to client’s text messages and telephone calls
• Failed to communicate in writing basis or rate of his fee
• Improperly handling of client funds

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
