Judge Vic Toews of Manitoba, CAN; greedy scofflaw

The Law Society presented Vic Toews with a law license in 1977 after he graduated the University of Manitoba Law School. g

The Canadian Federal Ethics Commission has charged Vic with engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as Canada’s Public Safety Minister.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Tennessee Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

  • Violated conflict of interest rules shortly after leaving political office
  • Improperly lobbied and consulted on behalf of two Manitoba First Nations within months after he left his government office
  • Contravened rules preventing former ministers from consulting or lobbying on issues which they dealt with while in office
  • Improperly provided strategic legal advice to Peguis First Nation related to the Kapyong Barracks dispute in Winnipeg even though he was the minister who signed off on the sale of the former military barracks
  • Signed improper contract to provide consulting services for Norway House Cree Nation despite working previously on a trust fund which the First Nation lobbied him directly on less than a year earlier

The Candadian Judicial Council received a copy of the complaint and will embark on a investigation as to whether the issue affects Vic’s ability to continue to be a judge.

In between, Toews provided strategic legal advice to Peguis First Nation related to the Kapyong Barracks dispute in Winnipeg. In 2007, Toews was the minister who signed off on the sale of the former military barracks, and was later named as a defendant in a lawsuit by First Nations, including Peguis, about the sale.

Toews also signed a contract to provide consulting services for Norway House Cree Nation. His work included touching on a trust fund which the First Nation had lobbied him directly about on two occasions less than a year earlier.

All that’s left now is to see if the Judicial Commission has the courage to order that Vic the Greedy Loser be tossed off the bench.

I’m sure Vic can find a job as a greeter at the Walmart Supercenter store o 18th Street North in Brandon, Manitoba as long as he doesn’t disclose that he is a lawyer.

As we speak (ca. July 2017), Vic continues to sit at as judge of Court of Queen’s Bench in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.
