Attorney William Powers of Portsmouth, VA; convicted felon

The state of Virginia presented William McMillan Powers with a law license in 1976.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board found Billy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Pled guilty to federal bank fraud, a felony
  • Inflated purchase prices of townhouses to obtain bank loan
  • Submitted fraudulent leases on townhouses to obtain bank loan
  • Provided inflated rental payment schedules to bank falsely stating there were sufficient rent payments to service the loans

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary 3-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2016), Billy practices with the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission at One Guardian Court in Portsmouth, Virginia.
