Attorney Betty Yarter of Kenedy, TX; ethical gremlin

The state of Texas presented Betty Barret Yarter with a law license in 1992 after she graduated from South Texas University Law School.

The 25th District Court of Guadalupe County found Betty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to advise client of scheduled hearings
  • Failed to return client file after being terminated
  • Failed to appear at court hearings on client’s behalf

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Betty by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Betty.

As we speak (ca. July 2017), Betty practices in Kenedy, Texas.
