Attorney Augustine Uke of Dallas, TX; ethical leprechaun

The state of Texas presented Augustine Uke with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from Texas Southern University Law School.

The District 17-A Grievance Committee found Augie guilty of the following misconduct.

• Settled client’s case w/o prior discussion with client
• Refused to speak to client after settling client’s claim w/o client permission
• Refused to return client property after being terminated
• Failed to respond to numerous client phone calls and faxes
• Failed to pay auto accident related expenses after receipt of settlement funds
• Failed to pay any settlement funds to client
• Refused to provide copy of fee agreement to client
• Knowingly violated rules or assisted or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another, whether such violation occurred during a client-lawyer relationship
• Failed to carry out obligation owed to client
• Failed to notify client of receipt of funds belonging to client
• Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
• Failed to explain the matters to the extent necessary to permit his clients to make informed decisions regarding the representation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Augie by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Augie.

As we speak (ca. September 2017), Augie practices with the Law Offices of Austin Uke at 2730 North Stemmons Freeway in Dallas, Texas.
