Attorney Guadalupe Olvera III of Brownsville, TX; lying loser

The state of Texas presented Guadalupe Olvera III with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from Texas Southern University Law School.

The District 11-A Grievance Committee found Olvera guilty of the following misconduct.

  • On at least two occasions allowed client who was under oath at the time to lie about his name to a federal judge in open court (subornation of perjury)
  • Made false statement of material fact or law to tribunal
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Olvera by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 12-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Olvera.

Because Texas Attorney Misfits are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Olvera was never criminally charged with subornation of perjury or obstruction of justice.

As we speak (ca. May 2017), Olvera practices at 847 East Harrison Street in Brownsville, Texas.
